About the Foundation

A bridge built by someone who had to cross it

Crystal Bridge Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Orange County, California. We bring trauma-informed, body-based resilience programs to women, children, and families in communities where that care is otherwise out of reach.

Our mission

Crystal Bridge Foundation exists to awaken innate intelligence, reconnect people to the field of humanity, and inspire lives of resilience, vitality, and joy. We work with the body first, because that is where trauma lives and where regulation begins. Our programs are offered free or at low cost to the people we serve, funded entirely by donors, partners, and grants.

We are not in the business of returning anyone to who they were before. We integrate what has happened, and rise to the highest version of ourselves.

What we do

Full detail on both, including the modalities behind them, is on the programs page.

Who we serve

Women rebuilding after violence, displacement, addiction, or loss. Children and families inside systems that are stretched thin. Frontline practitioners and case workers who carry other people's trauma and are rarely given tools for their own nervous systems. We serve across Orange County, California, and we go where we are invited — shelters, recovery programs, family service agencies, and community organizations.

Our founder

Meghan Sickner, founder of Crystal Bridge Foundation

Crystal Bridge Foundation was founded by Meghan Sickner, a licensed massage therapist and transformational guide with thirty years of floor-level experience in wellness and bodywork.

Meghan's father, Roy Sickner, was a Hollywood stuntman and the man who conceived the original story for The Wild Bunch. In 1972 he was severely injured on set and spent six months in a coma. When he woke, the family began a thirty-three year journey alongside severe traumatic brain injury, until his passing in 2001.

That was Meghan's introduction to trauma — not from a textbook, but from inside a family holding itself together around something most people have no words for. Everything the foundation offers was tested first in her own life.

Meghan is currently completing professional training in Somatic Experiencing (SE Student). Her other training includes The Values Factor with Dr. John Demartini, Transformational Breath with Judith Kravitz, relationship and communication work with Dr. Patricia Allen, and four years of study through the Lynn Andrews Mystery School.

How we are funded, and how funds are used

Crystal Bridge Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN 41-3347467. All contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

We are supported by individual donors, partner organizations, and foundation grants. Because our programs are delivered free or at low cost, donations go directly to the cost of running them: facilitation, program materials, space rental for group sessions, participant support, and the training of community facilitators. A small portion covers the administrative and insurance costs required to operate responsibly as a nonprofit.

Our annual filings are available on request. If you would like to see how a specific gift would be used before you give, write to us and we will tell you plainly.
